More than 30 million people in the UK are entitled to a free eye examination paid for by the NHS. You are entitled to a FREE NHS eye examination if you meet any of the following criteria.
We recommend annual eye examinations from school age (or earlier if your child is demonstrating vision problems or there’s a family history of lazy-eye, squints or short-sightedness).
No matter how good you think your child’s eye sight is, it’s important for them to be checked by an optician, so book an eye test for your child today.
Children’s eye tests are adapted to each individual, ensuring a relaxed and happy atmosphere. We’ll make sure they are thoroughly checked for things such as lazy Eyes, squints, and long-sightedness – all of which are common conditions in young children.
Should we detect a problem we’ll advise you on the best options for your child’s sight and ensure they’re monitored closely to ensure they are progressing well with their specs.
You are may also entitled to a free NHS sight test if you (or your partner) are receiving the following benefits.
* Income Support or
* Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
* Working Tax Credit/Child Tax Credit (named on a NHS Tax Credit Exemption cert.)
* Named on a valid HC2 or HC3 cert
* Pension Credit guarantee credit
* Universal Credit and meet the criteria*
As well as a free eye examination, you may also be entitled to an NHS Spectacle Voucher giving help with the purchase of glasses or contact lenses, if you are.
* Under 16 or under 19 and still in full time education
* Named on a valid HC2 or HC3 certificate
* In need of complex lenses
* You or your partner claim Universal Credit* Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Working Family’s Tax Credit/Disabled Person’s Tax Credit (and are named on a NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate).
